DIY Studded Shoes
Studs have definitely become a trend this past year. You see them on everything! I realized that studded clothing and accessories can be really expensive, so I decided to buy my own and add them to my wardrobe. I purchased gold and silver pyramid studs, in different sizes, from Amazon and EBay. They have really inexpensive studs that you can buy from sellers in China, that usually ship free! Here is what I did for these studded shoes:
Supplies:
- A pair of Tom’s Shoes or look-alike Tom’s like mine. I bought some by Soda, from EBay
- An assortment of studs, depending on the size and colors you’d like to use
- A flathead screwdriver
Directions:
- First, decide where you would like to put the studs. I thought it was easiest to follow the seam and go from there. That way you start with a straight line
- Push the first stud into the shoe, wherever you would like to start your pattern
- Inside the shoe, use the screwdriver to push the stems of the stud into the center of it. When all four are pushed in, the stud should grip tightly around the canvas, so there is no chance of it falling off
- Repeat this with all the studs
Note: You need plenty of light to do this. The inside of the shoe is dark and you need to see the stems of the studs to secure them. I have small hands so it was easy for me to get inside the shoe. It would be much easier to detail the back of the shoe, because it’s easily accessible. If you need more specific directions feel free to contact me.
