We really enjoy these seasonal lipsticks posts and we hope we do too! Our lipstick collections are massive so we often reorganize as the season changes, to have our favorites front and center. Because of this, we can easily identify our favorites for that time of year.
Winter is hands down our favorite when it comes to lip color. Vampy, deep shades are our jam and there are so many to choose from! Our go-to makeup look for Winter is a simple eye (think mascara and a defined crease) paired with a bold lip. There’s something about that look that’s so glamorous and feminine to us.
So let’s take a look at some of the very best Winter lipsticks!
Tarte Color Splash Lipstick in ‘Beach Waves’
These Color Splash lipsticks by Tarte are completely underrated. And I’m not just talking about the packaging (how pretty is it?!). They’re described as long wearing, moisture rich and full coverage. They’re truly so pigmented and glide on the lips with ease. Most creamy lipsticks wear off easily but these stay on the lips really well. There are quite a few pink shades in this line but I HAD to get Beach Waves, a true greige. It’s a great deep nude for everyday wear!
Bite Beauty Champagne Lip Gloss
Low and behold, our very first lip gloss feature on the blog! We really don’t like lipgloss, for lack of a better term. Most of the time it’s sticky, runs outside of the lips, and just doesn’t look right on us. So we really don’t own any. That is until this one. We picked up the Bite Beauty Champagne Discovery Set. BITE is possibly our favorite brand and we tend to love their products so we had to try this set. And we ended up loving this lip gloss. It can be worn as a lip topper to dimension to a matte lipstick, or on its own to create a gorgeous sheen. It’s not too sticky and glides with the lips.
ColourPop ‘Mystic’ Ultra Satin Lip
I don’t know if we’ve done one of these roundups without a ColourPop lippie. That’s how much we love their stuff! Mystic is a newer USL and it is so much prettier in person than we expected! It’s a deepened plum that compliments any eye look rather than competing with them. If you’re new to dark lips this is a great one to try as it’s more wearable than most!
Smashbox Liquid Lipstick in ‘True Grit’
This shade is the most daring of the bunch. It’s a deep, warm brown that’s probably the darkest shade we own. Sometimes super dark shades can make us look uber pale but this one has warmth so this one looks a bit more natural (for a dark shade anyways). You already know that Smashbox makes our favorite liquid lipstick formula! They’re pricey but worth it. There aren’t a lot of nudes in this collection currently but apparently, they’ll be releasing some soon, so we can’t wait for that!
MAC ‘Russian Red’ Lipstick
You know we couldn’t do a Winter lipstick roundup with a true red? Reds aren’t exactly unique but it is hard to find the perfect red for your skin tone. For us, this is Russian Red. It’s described as an ‘intense bluish red’ and we’d have to agree. The blue tones make it a true red, in our opinion. And of course it’s intense because if you hadn’t noticed, we love bold lipsticks! Russian Red is our go-to for holiday parties, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve!
Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in ‘Plath’
Ok, how pretty is this lipstick?! We don’t exactly love Kat Von D’s formula, but she comes up with the most unique shades! Plath is a ‘deep russet red’ which in other words is a rusty red. It’s a great alternative to wearing a red lipstick and looks amazing paired with an all matte brown smokey eye. This has been our most worn shade so far this Winter!
We’d love to hear what your favorite winter lipsticks are!
