Moscow Mule Float
I am a BIG fan of Moscow Mules. Not just because of the copper mug, either. Don’t get me wrong, that is the sole reason I initially ordered one. But once I had a sip, I knew my life had changed for the better (okay a bit dramatic but this drink is amazing).
In my opinion, Mules are best in the Summer (did someone say day drinking?!). They’re so refreshing & not overly sweet. But sometimes you want need something sweet. So when I was trying to come up with a version of a Mule that hasn’t been done before, the first thing that came to my mind was a float! Genius, I know.
I initially wanted to use lime sorbet (it tends to be icier than sherbert because there’s no dairy in it). But after going to two stores and searching the internet, I decided that lime sorbet does not exist (unless you make it from scratch). I love how this drink turned out with the sherbert though, still refreshing & oh so tasty!
To make one Moscow Mule Float…
Ingredients
- 4-6 oz ginger beer (preferably cold, since you’re not adding ice)
- 2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- A few mint leaves
- 4 oz lime sherbert (1/2 cup)
Supplies
- Copper mug (get yours here)
- A cocktail shaker (I got my copper one from Target last year; you can find a similar one here)
- A muddler (this is the one I have)
Directions
- Use the muddler to muddle a few mint leaves in the bottom of your shaker
- Add to the shaker: 1/2 oz lime juice & 2 oz vodka (DON’T include ginger beer, you don’t want to shake anything carbonated!)
- Shake it up, baby!
- Pour shaker mixture into your copper mug
- Scoop 4 oz (1/2 cup) of the lime sherbert into your copper mug
- Pour 4-6 oz of ginger beer over the lime sherbert
- Garnish your copper mug with a lime slice & mint leaf
- Enjoy!
Notes
My copper mug is very large, so for picture purposes, I filled it to the top with ginger beer. It was too much ginger beer for my liking (so sweet!). But when I used the measurements in this recipe, it was a perfect Moscow Mule! Also, feel free to tweak the recipe. You can easily add more lime juice or ginger beer depending on your taste!
This might sound super crazy but does the copper mug make everything taste like metal?
It’s not crazy! But no, they don’t make any drink taste like metal. They are usually stainless steal lined, so everything stays nice & cold too 🙂
Awesome! Thank you 🙂
I love mojito’s, so this may be right up my alley. Thanks for the recipe!
I love moscow mules with added mint! The ice cream isn’t bad either 🙂
I really love moscow mules as well, especially due to the pretty mugs they are served in! This drink looks amazing and I must try it out! 🙂
