No matter how hard I try, I always gravitate towards black when it comes to clothing. I associate the black with timelessness and I like to be able to wear different pieces with many others, which can only happen if they’re in the neutral, family. But it can be hard to incorporate black into my spring wardrobe.
I recently bought this Striped Abbreviated Banded Hem Top from Express. Originally I planned on wearing it with denim shorts in the summer. But I decided to try it with pants since it wasn’t hot enough for shorts just yet. I tried it on with denim and it looked cute but I preferred the way it looked with black jeans. Black on black is much more common in the wintertime but I think the cut of the top makes this appropriate for spring!
Because the top is cropped it fit perfectly with my high-waisted pants. I didn’t have to worry about my stomach showing at all which is great since I wore this to happy hour where I proceeded to stuff my face with french fries and nachos.
To make this outfit spring friendly I wore my white loafer mules from Target. I have these shoes in both white and black and they are without a doubt my most worn shoes. They’re incredibly comfortable and pair well with just about anything. I don’t get as much use out of the white ones so I’m glad they fit with this outfit. They really helped bring out the white in my top!

I will most certainly wear this outfit again, and I can’t wait to swap out these pants for jean shorts once the weather warms up!
