Get Ready With Us: Birthday Makeup
Britta and I celebrated our 26th birthday over the weekend! Although getting older can get scary, we always try to keep a positive attitude about it. I once read a quote along the lines of “be grateful for getting older, it’s a privilege denied to many”. The quote has always stuck with me and I try to stay grateful even though I can’t believe how fast time flies as you get older! Before we know it, we will be 30 (30 is the new 20, right?).
I actually had to work this Saturday which is a rare occasion, so we decided to have a pretty low-key birthday. We went out to dinner on Saturday night and brunch Sunday morning on our actual birthday. We thought it would be fun to do our first Get Ready With Us post this weekend, so we’re sharing our makeup looks we wore to dinner on Saturday.
We skipped a step-by-step tutorial for applying face products (blush, bronzer, etc.) and focused on our eye looks. If you’d like a more in-depth Get Ready With Me next time, just let us know!
PS how cute are these robes from Love Ophelia! They kindly sent them to us for our birthday to get ready in & we couldn’t be more obsessed! Of course we chose the same color (Coco) but there are lots of pretty options. We love that they personalize the robes with embroidery! Make sure to follow them on Instagram! Okay, let’s get onto the tutorial…
How-to create Carli’s look
Carli’s Products Used:
- Maybelline Dream Cushion Foundation
- Maybelline Better Skin Concealer
- RCMA No Color Powder
- Too Faced Sweat Tea Bronzer
- Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Video
- Tarte Exposed Highlighter
- The Balm Mad Lash Mascara
- Benefit Brow Pencil
- L’Oreal Brow Stylist Gel in ‘Transparent’
- Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipstick in ‘Sanctuary’
Steps:
Step 1: Apply the shade ‘latinus’ (light neutral matte brown) above the crease with a fluffy crease brush. This shade is pretty dark for my skin tone so I usually go in with a lighter transition shade first but this time, I tried just using a light hand and concentrating the color on the outer third of my eye and it worked well!
Step 2: Apply the shade ‘sytry’ (medium neutral matte brown) in the crease with a fluffy crease brush lower than the last shade you applied. Again, you want to concentrate most of the color on the outer third of your eye.
Step 3: Use a shader brush to apply the shade ‘succubus’ (satin cream) all over your lid and under your brow bone.
Step 4: Use a pencil brush to apply the shade ‘latinus’ to your lower lash line.
Step 5: Apply a couple coats of Mad Lash mascara (it’s my new all-time fav!)
Step 6: Finish off the look with a deep neutral shade like Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Sanctuary’
How-to create Britta’s look
Britta’s Products Used:
- Tarte Tartlette in Bloom Palette
- L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
- RCMA No Color Powder
- TheBalm Balm Desert Blush
- TheBalm Mad Lash Mascara
- Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Bronzer in Medium/Dark
- Laura Geller Gilded Honey Highlighter
- Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Sepia
- ColourPop ‘Lovely’ Super Shock Shadow
Steps:
Step 1: Apply the shade ‘smarty pants’ (light neutral brown) into the crease using a fluffy crease brush. Bring this shade a little above the crease so it acts as the transition shade.
Step 2: Apply the shade ‘rebel’ into the crease using a defined crease brush. Keep this in the crease and in the outer corner.
Step 3: Apply the shade ‘leader’ into the out v of each eye. Make sure to blend so it doesn’t look too harsh.
Step 4: Apply the shade ‘firecracker’ to the lid. Make sure not to go all the way to the out v, where ‘rebel’ is.
Step 5: Using your finger apply Colourpop’s ‘lovely’ over the top of ‘firecracker’. This is a really pretty shade with glitter so it will make your eyes pop!
Step 6: Using a flat liner brush (or smudger brush) apply ‘rebel’ along the lower lash line.
Step 7: Apply the NYX Tres Jolie liner to your waterline.
Step 8: Apply a thick coat of TheBalm Mad Lash to your eyelashes.
The last step is very important…pop some champagne and cheers to your birthday!
We hope you enjoyed getting ready with us!
