Favorite Makeup Brushes
Let’s have a little chat about makeup brushes. When I first got into makeup, I had no idea which brushes I needed to buy. It can be confusing & overwhelming and so you just pick the cheapest option and hope it works (I’m looking at you $1 brushes at Target).
Through the years, I’ve learned the importance of a great makeup brush. Now I never walk into a store and start blinding shopping for brushes. I do thorough online research and read lots of reviews on brushes before buying them. I’m sure impulse buys can work out but well-researched purchases usually leave me the most satisfied.
Britta and I want to make it easier for all of you looking for new makeup brushes so we put together a list of our personal favorite brushes. We’ve tried a lot of brushes and these are by far the best. Bonus: they’re all super affordable!
Morphe M444 – DELUXE DEFINITION BUFFER | $12.99
This brush is new to both of our collections but my gosh is it becoming our all-time favorite brush. Britta and I both use this brush every day to apply liquid foundation. The bristles are very short and dense so they don’t soak up any of the makeup. Just put some foundation on the brush and work it into your skin using circular motions.
Real Techniques Powder Brush | $7.59
This brush is great for setting your face with translucent powder. This is a step Britta and I can’t skip since we have oily skin. You could probably even use this brush for bronzing up the skin too!
Real Techniques Setting Brush | $6.07
A really great Ulta employee recommended this brush to us and we can’t be more grateful for her. This brush can be used to set under-eye concealer with powder or as a highlighting brush. It really works great for both making this brush a must-buy.
e.l.f. Angled Blush Brush | $4 at Target
Even though this is called a blush brush, I use it for contouring. I don’t like really harsh contours and this brush gives me the exact contour I want. It’s easy to apply a light contour shade and blend it out, plus, it’s one of the cheapest brushes in my collection!
Morphe M441 – PRO FIRM BLENDING CREASE | $5.99
This is my favorite crease brush. I use it every single day and I’ve realized I should buy at least two more. It works for transition shades and crease colors. It makes it so easy to blend colors into the crease.
Morphe M433 – PRO FIRM BLENDING FLUFF | $5.99
This brush is very similar to the M441 but the bristles are shorter and a little wider. I use it to blend darker colors into the outside of my crease and to place colors on the outer part of the lid. It’s a great brush!
Morphe E4 – ANGLED CONTOUR | $13.99
The second YouTuber Jaclyn Hill claimed this was her ride-or-die blush brush, I knew I needed it. It’s one of the most expensive brushes in my collection but it’s well worth the money. The bristles are so soft and the angled shape makes it super easy to apply blush to the apples of your cheeks and up the cheekbones.
Morphe M310 – LARGE SOFT FAN | $4.99
This is our go-to highlighter brush. It makes it so easy to apply shimmering highlighter to your cheekbones, now I never go a day without highlighter.

So many of these I want to try. I seriously need to get my hands on morphe brushes omg. Everyone is raving about them! The elf blush brush looked really interesting, like you I probably would like to use it as a contour brush because I don’t like mine harsh either. Lovely post!
Thank you! Morphe’s shipping is pretty affordable if you don’t live local to LA!
