It’s pretty obvious that chokers have become the necklace of choice for most. Carli and I love 90’s fashion, so we’re glad it’s making a comeback. Praise brown lipstick & chokers!
Carli and I have purchased some chokers that we really enjoy, but we wanted one that aligned with our personal styles more. It’s no secret we have a major thing for turquoise. We try to incorporate it into our accessories any chance we get.
We thought it would be fun to make a turquoise choker necklace considering they’re SO easy to make. So we went to Hobby Lobby and of course they had a HUGE assortment of turquoise pendants. We picked up a pack, along with some black cord, and got to work. We prefer when our chokers have a longer tie in the front, as opposed to one single strand. But the best part about this DIY is that you can craft it towards your own preferences. If you don’t like turquoise there are plenty of other pendant options. Or your choker could literally be one piece of cord tied behind your neck. It’s up to you!
Now that we’ve successfully created this choker we really want to challenge ourselves and make some more unique versions.
Supplies:Â
- Silver & Turquoise Metal Pendants– some other great options here & here.
- Black Suede/Leather Cord
Directions:Â
- Cut the cord to your desired length.
- String your pendant onto the cord. Find the middle and hold the pendants in place.
- Place the pendant (on the cord) in the middle of your neck. Wrap the rest of the cord behind your neck and back around to the front. Tie a knot/now directly underneath the pendant and let the rest of the cord hang down.
Have you DIY’d any choker necklaces? We’d love to see them! Send us your links below.
