Skin scents have gained popularity in the last few years and I fully support the movement. Sometimes you just want a fragrance that is pleasant, yet elusive, and not overwhelming. We all want a fragrance that we can spray on mindlessly, on the way out the door. Skin scents are usually based in lighter notes like musk, sandalwoood, and amber.
Let’s get into my selections for the best skin scents…
Dyad Highs + Lows
BUY ON DYAD
This is my all time favorite fragrance, and it is bias, since Dyad is my brand. Highs + Lows amber, musk and vanilla in the base so you have that creaminess from the vanilla but the musk is spicy and gets more complex with wear (especially the fragrance oil). Kathleen Lights describes this scent as a Hotel Lobby musk, which we fully agree with.
Glossier You

Glossier You has a cult following for a reason. It’s warm with notes of pink pepper and amber, and yet has a nice freshness to it. We’ve gone through several bottles of this one!
Lake + Skye 11 11
BUY ON ULTA
11 11 is an aquatic musk fragrance that has notes of amberwood, white musk, and marine. They describe it as capturing the feel of emerging from the ocean and I think that encapsulates this crisp, fresh fragrance well! I prefer the fragrance oil but there’s also an eau de parfum version.
Le Labo Another 13

Santal 33 had it’s moment a few years ago but in my opinion Another 13 is the best fragrance from Le Labo. It has notes of ambrox, musk, woody amber, jasmine petals, and more. Again, this is a warm fragrance because of the amber but the jasmine adds a freshness that makes it so wearable and inviting. It’s also very musk forward, which I love. The price tag is just extremely high on this one!
Diptyque L’Eau Papier

I’ve always heard amazing things about the Diptyque fragrances but I was skeptical becasue I dont love their candle scents. However, this year I feel in love with both L’eau Papier and Eau Duelle. Diptyque makes the most unique, long lasting fragrances out of all the luxury lines, in my opinion. Papier is a white musk fragrance inspired by paper that has notes of steamed rice, luminous mimosa and a deep blonde wood accord. It’s so complex and really does remind me of paper!
Clean Reserve Skin

If you are a floral gal I think you’ll like Clean Reserve Skin. They say it has vanilla but to me it just smells like a fresh floral scent, that has a musky dry down. It’s extremely wearable!
Phlur Missing Person

I would be remiss to have a roundup of the best musk perfumes and not include Missing Person. While it’s not my personal favorite, I can see the appeal! It has notes of Skin Musk, Bergamot Nectar, Blonde Wood and really does take on a whole new meaning to “your skin but better.”
Rosie Jane Dylan

Rosie Jane gets alot of hype for Dulce, which I also love, but I think Dylan is such an underrated fragrance from them. Dylan has notes of Cedar, Frankincense, Musk so you get some subtle woodiness with a musky dry down. It falls in the “earth and woody” category so it stands out from the rest of the perfumes on this list.
Dyad You + I
BUY ON DYAD
I couldn’t round up my fave skin scents without including You + I by my brand, Dyad. We’ve had customer’s compare this one to Glossier You and they definitely have a similar feel. You + I has notes of lily, amber, musk and jasmine, so its a very fresh musk scent that’s really well balanced and wearable. This one is also available in a perfume oil.
