DIY Color Blocked Bowls

DIY Color Blocked Bowls | Twinspiration

We love a good texture contrast. One that sticks out in our head is color blocked wood. Color really pops on wood grain and they make such a statement together. We especially love these color blocked vases and color blocked cutlery.

Carli and I found wooden dip bowls on clearance at Target monthsss ago and knew we had to buy them for a future project. After racking our brains for almost half a year we decided to jump into the color blocking trend head first. While we don’t incorporate a lot of color in our home we absolutely love a good blush pink. Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner we also thought it would be the perfect shade to use for this time of year.

We wanted the pink to have more dimension so we decided to throw some of our favorite rose copper paint into the mix. We may have mixed a little too well because the paid job came out almost tie-dyed but we still love how these little dip bowls look. Sure our tape lines weren’t exactly clean, but these bowls will now sit on our dressers and tables holding miscellaneous items.

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Place one strip of painter’s tape at the top of the bowl and wrap it all the way around. Make sure to press down any creases so no paint leaks through.
  2. Using a sponge paint the non-taped portion of the bowl blush pink. You should only need one thick coat.
  3. Dip your brush into the rose copper paint and start swiping it on your bowl in a zig zag pattern, or whichever patten you choose. Use a light hand to create a brushstroke effect.
  4. Let dry overnight and remove the paint.
