Carli’s Anniversary
Britta wrote this post but I’m chiming in to tell you about my anniversary! It was my boyfriend James and I’s 5-year anniversary on December 1st. FIVE YEARS! Time has just flown by, it’s so crazy. We usually go on trips for our anniversary, but we traveled so much this year we just weren’t up for it (especially since we knew we were going to Michigan for Chrismas). James told me he would plan a stay-cation for us and he did a great job! We ended up staying in Downtown LA at the Hotel Indigo. We actually did stay-cations at the Hotel Indigo in San Diego when we lived there so this was a nice surprise that reminded me of our early days of dating! The hotel was trendy but cozy and we both loved our stay there. For our night on the town, we ate dinner at the cutest restaurant called The Mighty and went ice skating at LA Live. We also spent some time drinking wine and talking at the hotel lobby bar which was probably my favorite part of the whole night. We didn’t take a single picture beside the poor-lit bathroom selfie we took in the room so that’s all I have to share!
Ice Skating in Downtown LA
You may remember last year when Tommy and I went ice skating thanks to Yelp. We were lucky enough to be able to participate again this year and it was even better! The Pershing Square rink can get super crowded, so we never go on our own, but there were maybe had 50 people at the Yelp Elite event, so you can actually skate and enjoy yourself. We made a whole date night out of it and went to sushi before. Such a fun Winter event!
Holiday Variety Show
Based on these recaps alone it’s no secret that we rarely go out on the town, so to speak. We’re homebodies and we love hanging out with our dog, Luna. But there’s something about the holidays that makes you want to end the year with a bang. We decided to go to a holiday variety show that was at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The show was hosted by Justin Long & CVHRCHES and the premise was that they invited all of their friends in music/comedy to come perform and all the ticket proceeds would go to charity. We weren’t expecting much for $40 but dare I say it was the most fun thing we did in all of 2017! Some highlights include Nick Kroll (so funny) and the ever so handsome Darren Criss (pictured above).
Mom’s Visit
Our mom came to visit this month and we had a great time celebrating Christmas early! She hasn’t been out here in two years and since we recently moved we couldn’t wait for her to see our new place. We took her to Griffith Park (of course), The Americana, and our favorite restaurant The Sit Down. It’s always nice for your loved ones to see more into your daily life! She was also finally able to meet my boyfriend Tommy’s mom, Denise. We’ve been together for four years so I’m so glad they were finally able to connect!
We’re so excited to see what next year holds!
xx, Britta
