You guys know we are jeans and t-shirt gals through and through. While this year (COVID) hasn’t allowed us to wear jeans as much as we like, when we do we’re usually running to the store so the jeans are paired with – you guess it – a plain t-shirt and sneakers.
However, this weekend I wanted to dress up my jeans just for fun to show you how we like to do this. If you have dinner plans soon or are even back in an office environment, these tips are perfect for transitioning your casual denim to nighttime appropriate.
First tip, I find the best denim to dress is plain and either straight-legged or wide-legged. Plain as in not distressed or embellished in any way – I find plain denim to just be a bit more elevated and chic. I like more straight-legged jeans in general but if you’re going to add any height with heels, pairing the heels with straight or wide-leg jeans is the most flattering combo in my opinion!
The jeans I always dress up my favorite Everlane The 90s Cheeky Straight Jean in the Medium Blue wash. These jeans have a great tailored look due to the thick/rigid denim which I love. The blue color is also really unique but I also have these in the light wash and have my eye on the washed black!
My favorite tops to wear when I’m trying to dress up denim are blouses. Since it’s still hot here, I went with this short-sleeved mock neck number from Uniqlo. It’s very casual and flowy but still looks more elevated than a plain t-shirt. I also always opt for neutral tops (tan, white, black, etc.) when dressing up jeans as those colors are more classic.
Again since it’s hot here I went with these cute strappy heeled sandals but I think heeled boots would be so cute too when it cools down.
For accessories, keep it simple! I love gold jewelry so I added a chunky gold ring and the more delicate chic pearl hoops.
I added a red lip to complete the look and I love it! I would wear this on date night, to a happy hour, to the office, anywhere!
