It’s no secret how much we love makeup but you probably didn’t know that we love skin care JUST AS MUCH. So basically we have a full blown obsession with Sephora, but who doesn’t?
We still remember the first skincare product our mom ever bought us, the Olay Beauty Fluid. Even as young girls we enjoyed our simple skincare routine and taking care of our skin. But it wasn’t until we actually saw signs of aging that we really dove into learning about active ingredients and which ones would be beneficial for our skin type.
If you follow us on YouTube you know we always talk about how growing up in Wisconsin our skin was oily, emphasis on the oil. We always used to use foaming cleansers and scrubs and gravitated towards any makeup products that said “matte” or “lasts all day.” For some reason in the last couple of years, our skin has completely changed. This probably has a lot to do with getting older and the fact that we basically live in a desert (Los Angeles), but we now have combination/dry skin. Because of this, we’ve had to switch out a lot of products we were using and when we started doing our research we also decided to try out more natural products, including face oils.
Herbivore Lapis Oil Balancing Facial Oil | Bio-Oil Multiuse Skincare Oil | Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil | Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil| Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate | The Ordinary Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil |  Timeless 100% Pure Squalane | rms Beauty Oil |  KORRES Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening Oil | SUNDAY RILEY Luna Sleeping Night Oil
Beauty oils should be called elixirs because they are pure magic. We’re obsessed with facial oils because they hydrate our dry skin way more than any ole moisturizer could, and since they tend to be on the thicker side they lock in moisture and any active ingredient you have under them (ie. retinol, vitamin C, etc).
While oils tend to be on the pricey side they also tend to be worth it. We would rather use any of these oils than fancy, chemically induced “anti-aging” products. Most of these oils contain natural elements like Vitamin C, which is used to brighten the skin, or Squalane, which is insanely hydrating. When choosing an oil the more natural the better in our opinion!
We did a whole video dedicated to products we tried from The Ordinary, and our favorite from that haul is definitely the Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. Seriously you guys it’s life changing! Some of the benefits include: Corrects UV damage, reduces the appearance of scars, treats fine lines, hydrates, evens skin tone. And that is just a taste! We have seen such a difference in the overall quality of our skin since using this. It’s more even, bright, and our fine lines have definitely been reduced!
We also can’t say enough good things about Squalane Oil. We’ve also mentioned this on YouTube but Squalane is derived from olives and it’s excellent for hydrating the skin and retaining moisture. It’s also very lightweight so we love mixing it into our creams and sometimes even our foundation. The Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil combines our two favorite oils and we’ll have it in our arsenal forever.
I’ve gotten super long winded but I think I could talk about skin care forever and never get less passionate. Let us know some of your favorite beauty oils!
