We love summer. The weather warms up, the sun stays up longer, and so do we. But oily skin and summer are no match made in heaven. Being oily skinned girls we’ve learned a thing or two about how to combat shine in the warmer months.

One staple for us is the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. If you’re a makeup junkie you’ve probably already heard of this powder and if you haven’t tried it, stop what you’re doing, go to your local Walmart and pick it up! This stuff is magical. It doesn’t make your face look cakey and keeps you matte ALL DAY. The shade selection at Walmart is HUGE, so you’ll definitely find something that matches your tone. When you combine this powder with the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer & a mattifying foundation you will be oil free for 24 hours. Promise!

For this post we wanted to create a look that was easy to accomplish, natural looking, and good for oily skin like ours. Natural looks are a great way to accentuate your features while still maintaining your true self, your natural beauty!

SIDE NOTE: I got extremely sunburnt at the beach so ignore the redness.

Products Used:

Directions:

Prime your face, using your hands,  with the Stay Matte Primer. This stuff is thick so make sure to really massage it into your skin evenly.

Apply your foundation using a makeup sponge.

For the purpose of this tutorial I then applied my mascara and eyeliner, and filled in my brows.

Apply the Stay Matte Powder with a large fluffy brush. Make sure to focus on the areas that get oily, like the T-zone. You should also set your under eyes and your eyelids. This helps your shadow go on smoother.

Apply the bronzer from the Kate Sculpting Kit to your cheeks and the outer part of your forehead. Focus on darkening the outer part of your face.

Using a crease brush apply the bronzer to your crease to “contour” the eyes. This is our favorite eye look for the summer. It’s so easy to achieve and still adds depth to the eye.

Next up is blush. Use an angled brush to apply blush to your cheekbones. A trick is to suck in your cheeks and apply the blush on the top portion of your cheekbones. This technique chisels out the cheeks to slim the face.

Now for highlighter, the best part! Apply highlighter with a fan brush/flat foundation brush to the top of your cheekbones, the center of your nose, and your cupids bow. Finish with a setting spray.

Lastly apply the Rimmel Provocalips to your lips. This lip color has two steps, so make sure to do both!

This look is very subtle which is exactly what we were going for. When it’s 90 degrees out there is no point in getting all dolled up. Sometimes it’s nice to let your face breath and accentuate your natural beauty 🙂
