Sweet & Salty Cookies | Twinspiration

This time of year we are bombarded with pie recipes. I know pie is the traditional Thanksgiving dessert but sometimes it’s fun to change up traditions. You all know how much Carli and I love cookies (favorite food only second to pizza), so we thought we’d some with one of our favorite seasonal treats…Chocolate Wavy Lays!

We tried these chocolate-covered sweet/salty chips the first year they were released a couple years ago and haven’t stopped talking about them since. I still remember we had to open the bag in the Target parking lot because we just couldn’t wait to get home to try them.

Speaking of Target, that’s where we picked both the Dark & Milk Chocolate Wavy Lays for this recipe. Lays also created a new flavor for 2016, Milk Chocolate with Almond Bits. YUM!!

For this cookie recipe, we wanted to exaggerate the sweet & salty flavor of the chips, so we added some sweet & salty ingredients to our cookie mix! If you would like to use your own sugar cookie recipe instead of packed dough, that works too!

Here is how we did it:

Ingredients:

  • Chocolate Wavy Lays (Milk & Dark). You will use 1/4 cup of each. Chopped.
  • Sugar Cookie mix + what the package calls for
  • 1/4 cups chopped pretzels
  • 1/4 cups butterscotch chips

Directions:

Follow the recipe on the bag of cookie mix, gently fold in 1/4 cup of each ingredient. Bake according to the package. For our cookies, we used a cookie scoop and placed our cookies about 2″ apart on a baking sheet (the cookie dough’s diameter was about 1″).

Enjoy these cookies with your loved ones at Thanksgiving (or really anytime)! These would be perfect to bring to a cookie exchange or even a potluck! And you know us. We like to keep things simple. These cookies took us less than 30 minutes total to make. If you’re busy like us you know that simple, quick recipes are the holy grail.
