Sephora Collection dropped their #LIPSTORIES lipsticks a few years ago now. I was always intrigued by the price point but was honestly overwhelmed by the options. There are multiple finishes and colors and it was all a little much to choose from.
However, more recently they launched their ‘Natural Wonders’ collection, full of unique earthy tones. I decided to pick up the nude, Off the Grid, and the ochre called Primal Instinct. Both seemed to be wearable shades and are in the ‘cream’ formula.
Off the Grid is a gorgeous nude with yellow undertones. I’ve been really gravitating towards these kinds of nudes for fall. The formula is interesting- its an emollient, thin, and pigmented formula. This lipstick glides onto the lips effortlessly and in my opinion, has more of a shiny finish than most creams. I find that to get the most pigmentation I have to wear a lip liner underneath, and it almost acts as a primer. Since this formula is so thin the liner also helps with bleeding. I always like to blot down my lipsticks and this formula works well for that.
I think this formula needs a little more finessing than most, and its not something I can apply quickly, but I do like it. One thing I do not like about it is the added fragrance. I really do not like fragrances in my lip products.
Primal Instinct is a true mustard yellow. I know that sounds scary but I actually think this is a really fun shade for fall! To make it more wearable I wear my MAC Stripdown liner underneath to add some depth.
Have you guys tried these?
