San Francisco

San Francisco by Twinspiration

My boyfriend and I made a trip North to San Francisco this past weekend for Valentine’s Day. I have never been north of Santa Barbara and he has family up there, so he’s pretty familiar with the area. I was so excited to go on our first trip together (corny I know). Our weekend hashtag was #TomrittaTakesSF if you want to see pictures….

To save money we decided to stay at his aunt and uncles house in Lafayette, about 45 minutes outside of the city. I’m glad we did because it was nice to wake up to peace and quiet and sunshine every morning.

We arrived Thursday evening, so we had all day Friday and all day Saturday to explore. On Friday woke up and made our way to Oakland to eat breakfast/dessert at Fentons Creamery. My boyfriend has been raving about this place since I met him, so I was extremely excited to try it out. The restaurant was pretty dead in the morning, which was nice. No one likes being crowded in a room full of strangers, especially when food is involved. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was only $8.00 BTW. Cheapest, best Eggs Benny Ive ever had! & the rosemary potatoes were definitely sent down from the potato gods. They were heavenlyyyyy. After I devoured/CPC’d (CLEAN PLATE CLUB for those non members) my meal, I ordered a scoop of blueberry cheesecake ice cream. Now, I know this place is a creamery, so I expected the ice cream to be good, but woah. It was perfection. Creamy-check. Thick-check. Toppings to base proportion-check. You guys, this ice cream is life changing. Like I’m dying a little inside without it.

So after my boyfriend rolled me out of Fentons we made our way into the city. First we stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge to take the typical Golden Gate selfie (duh), and see the sites. The drive along the water was beautiful. After that tiny excursion we made our way over to Fisherman’s Wharf to meet my (sister) friend Shauna for a drink. BTW Shauna has an amazing DIY blog, Rae of Sparkles. Check it out!

After we found parking we walked around a little bit. Every restaurant is of the seafood variety, and there are slain fish everywhere. My boyfriend was basically drooling over all the crab and lobster. I’m not a fan of seafood but it was cool to see people that are so dedicated to their craft. Just posted up, boiling crab and lobster left and right to make delicious food for tourists to enjoy. #SmallBusinessesForTheWin. We decided to have a drink at this place right by the water. It was a beautiful day for good company and a cocktail.

After that we drove around Ghirardelli Square, which was so neat (for lack of a better term). We eventually made our way over towards downtown, close to AT&T Park, where we stopped at a couple of bars. Everyone in this area was so friendly. Very different than people in LA (to say the least). That was pretty much it for Friday. A long, wonderful day.

On Valentine’s Day we woke up and had (five) mimosas on the porch. Then we went to Fentons for a second time. This time it was absolutely packed. We “shared” a sundae because I said it was a cute thing to do on Valentine’s Day (Yes, I’m one of THOSE girls). We lounged around in the afternoon and decided to go to a late dinner in the city. We didn’t make a reservation anywhere, which was a big mistake, but we did eventually have a nice Valentines dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Union Square. Union Square was one of my favorite parts of San Francisco. I love all the old, glamorous buildings.

Overall I had such a great trip, and can’t wait to go back! I love all the architecture, the parks, the food, the people, etc. I was also surprised at how quiet the city was. No noisy cars or people at all. It was almost eerily silent. I plan on going back very soon to visit Shauna, and add to the list of things I love about SFO 🙂
