Way back in the springtime, Pixi sent us their MatteLast Liquid Lips. Back then, they had a beautiful variety of nude shades but no bolder colors. Well, they recently came out with a line extension and added reds, berries and even more pink-hued liquid lips. Since they have a full line now, we thought it would be a great time to review and swatch them all in a YouTube video. We personally love watching swatch videos before buying lip products so we’ve been doing a lot of them on our channel. We hope you are enjoying them!
We go more in detail in the video but I wanted to give you the low-down on this lip product. First of all, the packaging of these liquid lipsticks is really sleek and pretty! Very impressive for them only being $14. I think of Pixi as a Drugstore brand since they are sold at Target and pretty affordable so comparing to other Drugstore brands, they are a bit more elevated in their packaging and formulas. The component and applicator remind us of the Smashbox Liquid Lips we love.
These liquid lips are very pigmented and go on very evenly (even though we have an issue with the applicator – hear more about that in the video). They dry to a true matte finish and don’t budge. I’d say you can get 6-8 hours of wear if you don’t eat oily foods. To be honest, we haven’t been into a super opaque matte look lately (besides our beloved Fenty Uncensored) so this isn’t a product we’d be eager to reach for right now.
The other downside to us is the shade range. Of course with 11 shades in the line, I do think there’s something for everyone. However, the range leans very pink. Something we just aren’t into. Our favorite shade by far is a true red named Real Red which is such a stunner.
I wanted to mention though that Pixi sent some bulk of the product with their PR kit asking influencers to use the product and little jars to send in a shade they mix up. Pixi will then review all the submissions and choose a winner and make that into a real shade. Such a neat idea! We’re hoping for some sort of brown shade to win.
What do you think of these Pixi liquid lips?
