Carli and I really miss blogging. As you know we’ve had this blog for 7 years and for a while we were very dedicated to posting 2-3 times a week. As we’ve gotten busier its been hard to balance our full-time jobs, businesses, and content. To be honest, we’ve put most of our content focus on Youtube but because of that, we haven’t had the chance to properly blog in at least a year.
So I had the idea to do a series of short one product beauty reviews. So often I’m looking for written reviews and swatches of a new product and they are nowhere to be found. Even before I purchased this lipstick, I couldn’t find swatches or real person reviews.
SO first up is the new Juvia’s Place The Nude Chocolates Velvety Matte Lipstick. I gravitated towards these chocolatey shades because they looked so rich for fall. I picked up the shade ‘Lady’ which is described as a deep brown peachy nude. I think the descriptor is spot on. This shade has a lot of yellow in it which makes it so unique to me and so stunning for this time of year! I know I’m going to be wearing the heck out of this.
Next up, I want to talk about this formula. Although marketed as a velvety matte lipstick I would say this is more so a creamy satin lipstick. It’s way more comfortable than most matte lipsticks but also not transfer-proof. I prefer this formula to a super matte lipstick because it doesn’t accentuate my lip lines at all and makes them look uber smooth.
One thing I want to touch on is the scent. There seems to be a raw ingredient in this that has almost a burned plastic scent? If you’re not sensitive to scents you probably wouldn’t even notice!
Lastly the packaging. Although I’m not a pink person I can appreciate the uniqueness of this pink ombre square component. It’s very pretty and luxe- especially at this price point! I do want to mention to not twist this lipstick up too much because it feels like the base could snap off fairly easily. I also love the shape of this bullet! It’s almost triangle like and makes it very easy to apply without the use of a lip brush or lip liner.
Overall I would highlight recommend these and they’ve earned an almost perfect score in my book!
