Fruity Pebble Bowls

Fruity Pebble Bowls by Twinspiration

Hybrid foods are basically taking over the world right now. If you haven’t had a cronut you haven’t lived. We fully believe that whenever you get an idea to combine two foods, you should take it and run with it. It could turn our terribly, or wonderfully. But most likely wonderfully, because we’re talking about food here. Food is everything.

Carli and I have seen cookie bowls on Pinterest 1000 times. They seem like a great idea but when it comes to cookies we don’t have patience to bake them ourselves, let alone form them into a bowl and THEN bake them. We like our cookies instantly. Which would explain why we’ve never posted a cookie recipe…

Yesterday we got the idea to make ice cream bowls out of Rice Krispy Treats. And not just any run-of-the-mill Rice Krispy treats, but Rice Krispy Treats made from Fruity Pebbles. I KNOW. It’s almost too good to be true. Such a bright, delicious summer treat.

It’s actually super simple. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (or margarine if you prefer)
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Fruity Pebbles
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Muffin Tin
  • Wax Paper

 Directions:

  1. Cut the wax paper into squares that are a little larger than each muffin tin hole. Place the squares over the holes so they are ready for when the mixture is complete.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add the vanilla extract.
  3. Add the marshmallows to the saucepan slowly and melt with the butter/vanilla mixture on medium heat.
  4. In the meantime, add the fruity pebbles to a large mixing bowl.
  5. When the marshmallows are completely melted, pour the mixture into the large mixing bowl.
  6. Mix the marshmallow mixture with the fruity pebbles using a spatula. Mix thoroughly so all the cereal is covered.
  7. Using a large spoon scoop approximately two scoops of the mixture into each muffin tin hole (on top of the wax paper square). Use the spoon to press the mixture around the edges, leaving a hole in the center. Basically form it into a bowl shape.
  8. Let the fruity pebble bowls sit in the muffin tin for 30 minutes, to completely cool.
  9. Lift each “bowl” from the muffin tin and place in the freezer for approximately 30-45 minutes.
  10. Take the wax paper off of the bowls, and let six for about five minutes (just to thaw out for a bit).
  11. Fill your bowl with the ice cream of your choice! We used vanilla bean, and topped the ice cream with MORE fruity pebbles.
