The season of bright, fun lip colors is here! You probably know by now that we are very into neutral colors for most of the year, but we find it fun to play around with lip colors come summer. Our favorite way to wear most of these lip colors is paired with a natural, dewy face look and bare eye. By bare eye I mean no eyeshadow; we would never leave the house without mascara. That’s such a scary thought.
While searching through our makeup collections for our favorite summer lipsticks, we realized we had a lot of options. After much thought, we have narrowed it down to 6 different products. We tried to vary the price point for you because we know not everyone is going to spend $26 on a lipstick. That’s something that’s even hard for us to stomach and we’re addicted to buying makeup.
We’re so excited to share our favorite summer lipsticks with you! Here they are…
I’m sure everyone has their go-to perfect nude lipstick in their collection, well Bite Beauty’s Honeycomb lipstick is ours. We stayed away from this beige nude for a long time in fear that is would be way too light for our skin tone. We were so wrong. This shade is our perfect nude for many reasons. The nude shade itself is very neutral, much like our skin tone. It also isn’t too pink which we don’t like in nude lipsticks, we much prefer a more brown undertone. We’ve raved about Bite’s lipstick formula before but if you didn’t know, it’s our all time favorite. These lipsticks are 100% worth the $26, between the two of us we probably own 8 shades in the collection.
We did an entire post on the EM Cosmetics Infinite Lip Clouds when they first launched, you can check out our review here. We absolutely love the formula of these lip creams because they’re very comfortable but still long-lasting. This shade is our favorite of the bunch not just because of the gorgeous color, but because it is extremely opaque and just makes your lips look better. Although this soft tangerine shade would be perfect for fall, we love it for summer. It has a kind of unexpected brightness about it which we love for the warmer months.
This lipstick is so new to my collection and it was a major impulse purchase from Ulta. Like most beauty-obsessed individuals, I go to Ulta at least once every two weeks. I swear I don’t purchase something every time I go, but I love to look around. A few weeks ago I was walking by the Maybelline lipsticks (which I love) and noticed there was only one left of this shade. I immediately felt like I had to buy it because if there was only one left, it must be good, right? As soon as I got home I regretted my purchase and thought about going back the next day to return it. But then I tried it on and fell in love. This shade is so hard to describe but I think it’s a vibrant mauve pink. The purple undertones in it is what makes the pink work for my skin tone and I couldn’t be happier I made the purchase. I think this shade will look amazing when I get a little bit of a summer tan.
If you know anything about us you know it is extremely uncommon for us to rock any sort of wacky color. So when Britta bought this shade from ColourPop last year, I was shocked. It’s a bright fuschia liquid lipstick with a blue reflect. Again, us + duo chrome liquid lipsticks do not mix. But there was something about this shade she was drawn to and now we’re both so happy she bought it. We love pairing it with a natural eye look and simple face. We get so many compliments everytime we wear it and a shade this bright will only work for summer so we might as well enjoy it while we can!
First of all, let me just say that this shade and the next shade are super similar. However, this is a matte lipstick that costs $6 and the next one is a glossy liquid lip that costs a whopping $26 so we figured it was worth mentioning both. I first discovered this shade on the many beauty blogs I frequent and knew I had to have it. It’s a bright coral color that really compliments our skin tone. I love the Maybelline matte lipstick formula & I still can’t believe they’re just $6 each. I also bought the NYX Summer Tease lipliner to wear with this and these two products are a perfect match.
You know those lip colors that when you wear them you get compliments upon compliments about how pretty that lip color is?! Well, this is that lip shade. Every single time we wear it, people can’t stop talking about how pretty it is. The shade itself is so stunning, but I also think the brightness of it along with the red tones really compliments our skin tone and eye color. To speak more to the shade, Nars describes it as a “raspberry red” and I couldn’t agree more. If you haven’t tried their Velvet Lip Glide formula, it almost looks like a gloss but is super long-lasting. This particular shade always leaves a pinky stain on my lips which also looks lovely. This formula will not accentuate lip lines or dry lips which is something I appreciate these days!
