4 Favorite Blog Posts From The Past 4 Years

4 Favorite Blog Posts From The Past 4 Years | Twinspiration

Twinspiration turns four today!! It’s honestly crazy that we started our blog journey FOUR years ago. For those of you that don’t know, we started Twinspiration while we were in Journalism school. A lot of our classes required us to write blog posts, but they had to be on very specific topics. For instance, I created a blog all about different bakeries in Southern California (shocking, I know). We quickly realized how much we enjoyed blogging and were anxious to write about more topics we felt passionate about. One day we were standing in our kitchen and Carli proposed the idea of starting our own lifestyle blog. I eagerly agreed and we got to brainstorming. She came up with the idea to call it Twinspiration and I will forever be indebted to her for that. We had no idea how to buy a domain, what platform to use, what to write about, etc. But what we did have was passion and drive. We knew that we wanted to share our world with others and hopefully teach them a thing or two along the way.

Twinspiration initially started as a place for us to share our favorite recipes, beauty products, DIY projects and more with our friends and family. Even back in 2013, we were big into DIY and people were always asking us to share our projects. Our blog posts used to contain maybe one paragraph and two terribly shot iPhone photos. It’s crazy to think about how much we’ve improved in four years. It may seem like a long time but we haven’t always given Twinspiration the time it deserves. Many of you know that when we were in college full time we were also working at an airport full time. We enjoyed both work and school so much that it rarely felt like a chore to do either, but we were also left with ZERO free time. And I mean ZERO. So we really didn’t take our blog seriously until we graduated college and moved up to Los Angeles in 2014. It was then that we realized that this could be our future and we’ve worked day and night towards that goal. We’re still not blogging full time (yet) but we have found a love for photography and content creation that we never thought possible. It’s truly amazing to be able to work on something together that brings us so much joy. And we hope that joy shines through our posts!

Sorry for all the rambling. This is honestly kind of emotional for us, just to look back on how far we’ve come. Without further ado, we’re going to share our four favorite posts from the past four years with you! -in no particular order.

IKEA Hack: Gold & Marble Bar Cart, by Twinspiration: https://twinspiration.co/ikea-hack-gold-marble-bar-cart/

IKEA Hack: Gold & Marble Bar Cart

This one was a no-brainer for us. It has over 13,000 pins and is still driving traffic for us. At the time of this post, we were obsessed with using marble contact paper on EVERYTHING. We had just moved to LA and were in desperate need of a new bar cart. Since we were tight on money, we decided to use a cart from IKEA and jazz it up. This was honestly super hard to spray paint since we had to paint all the parts individually and then put the thing together without scraping it to pieces. Nonetheless, we’ll always remember clearing out our dim lit dining room just to get a good shot. There were three other people helping us (holding lights, reflectors, etc) and the photos are mediocre at best. But they were the best we could do at the time and that’s all that matters!

Sweet Eats: Milk Jar Cookies | Twinspiration

Sweet Eats: Milk Jar Cookies

This one might not come as a surprise to you but this was the first Sweet Eats post we ever did. Honestly, our Sweet Eats series doesn’t do a whole lot for our traffic but they’re still our favorite posts to create. We have a passion for desserts and finding the best of the best to share with you. We live in Los Angeles where sweets are abundant and so this series was such a perfect fit for Twinspiration. Milk Jar is probably our favorite bakery in all of Los Angeles so it was a great stepping stone for the rest of the Sweet Eats series!

Strawberry Cheesecake Bars by Twinspiration

Strawberry Cheesecake Bars

This post might not look all the special but it is to us. Philadelphia Cheesecake Bars were our absolute favorite snack growing up. We always had boxes on boxes in our fridge so when they were discontinued we were obviously devasted. We always wanted to recreate them but never had a reason to, until we started our blog of course. We thought so long and hard on how to develop a recipe that would taste the same as our cherished cheesecake bars and we were so pleased with the outcome. The real satisfaction came when someone had shared our post in a Redditt thread about how to make Philadelphia Cheesecake Bars at home #goals

Rainbow Funfetti Dip by Twinspiration

Rainbow Funfetti Dip

When we came up with this recipe idea we had no clue it would be so popular. We literally made it on a Sunday afternoon and it just gave us an excuse to play with our new neon food coloring. Without a doubt, it’s one of the tastiest things we’ve ever made so we thoroughly enjoyed eating it. Oh, and it’s our mot pinned post to date with over 32,000 pins!! The real satisfaction came when one of our favorite bloggers Studio DIY posted it on her Instagram account. For her to praise our work meant so much! This dip also got us featured on the Food Networks Snapchat which was such a surreal experience!

Now that were practically in tears thinking of all the amazing things we’ve learned from blogging, it’s time to sign off. Thank you so much for your continued support. It means the WORLD to us!
