One of our absolute favorite summer activities is enjoying wine and apps on a patio somewhere in Los Angeles. Of course we adore a good happy hour but there’s something special about making a delicious appetizer and drinking good wine in the comfort of your own home.

We decided to pair this Easy Arugula Tomato Pizza Appetizer with Notable Wines Oaky & Buttery Chardonnay which has notes of butter, oak, and vanilla. Notable Wines is a new company and they’re the first wine company to highlight flavor profiles right on the bottle. We are no sommeliers so this is super helpful for us when were deciding on which wine to pair with our food. We decided on the oaky and buttery chardonnay because our pizza has a lot of similar earthy elements that compliment the wine. It’s so delicious! They also have a fruity and crisp Chardonnay that would be awesome paired with some sort of berry dessert! Try Notable wines for your next get together!

When we think of summer appetizers we immediately gravitate towards Caprese and other light Italian dishes. When deciding what to top our pizzas with we immediately went to arugula and sundried tomatoes. Sundried tomatoes don’t get enough love and they are absolutely packed with flavor. The sweetness from the tomatoes is offset but the earthiness of the arugula, and the pesto just adds a nice bold flavor. This could be our new favorite pizza combination!

As you can see we used mini frozen cheese pizzas for this recipe because when you’re cooking for a large group you don’t want to be spending all of your time in the kitchen. You can easily finish this appetizer in 15 minutes which gives you more time to enjoy some wine with your friends.

  • Mini Frozen Cheese Pizzas
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Pesto
  • Olive  Oil
  • Arugula

  1. Cooke your frozen pizzas (or homemade) 75% of the way. For example, we cooked ours at 425 degrees for 8 minutes when the full length is 11 minutes.
  2. While your pizzas are cooking mix equal parts pesto and olive oil together to create a drizzle. This lessens the intensity of the pesto and makes it easier to drizzle across the entire pizza.
  3. When the time is up, add your arugula, sundried tomatoes, and pesto drizzle.
  4. Now put your pizzas back in the oven for the rest of the allotted time. We did two more minutes and they turned out perfect!
  5. You can serve these cut into fours if you’d like but we love that they’re the perfect individual size!
