DIY Metallic Frosted Ornaments

Growing up our Christmas tree was always decked out in vintage ornaments that had sentimental value. While we always loved decorating the tree and taking a walk down memory lane with each ornament, we knew that when we had our own Christmas tree that it would be themed. Maybe this is because we love to create content, that includes our home, or maybe we just like a cohesive tree. Our first tree was decorated with silver and gold, such a classic combination. This year we decided to build on the ornament collection we started last year, of mixed metals and shades of blue. While we had quite the collection already we decided we wanted to DIY some ornaments that would be subtle yet beautiful.

We truly loved how our DIY Vintage Frosted Glassware turned out, so we wanted to take that project one step further. And these ornaments were actually easier than the glassware!

We couldn’t paint the ornaments altogether since we used two different shades so we did six at a time, starting with the lighter shade, gold. We flipped the ornaments upside down so that the bottom was facing up and then just sprayed two lights coats of paint on them, circling the ornaments as we sprayed. We literally only have to let them dry for like a minute before attaching the hooks and hanging them on the tree!

We love this project because we can use this tutorial year after year based on our trees theme. But I think we’ll stick with this copper and blue theme for awhile 🙂
