BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes Review + Swatches

BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes Review + Swatches | Twinspiration

We both love blush and have holy-grail favorites that are hard to beat. We truly don’t sway from our favorites – Burt’s Bee’s/NARS/Charlotte Tilbury. So when new blushes launch, we don’t generally get too excited. Sure, they’re pretty. We may even see an interesting hue pop up once in a while but as I said we are diehard for our favorite blushes.

However, when the new Buxom Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes hit Sephora.com we were intrigued. Primer-infused? What does that mean? Luminous and long-wearing? SIGN US UP. But we didn’t pull the trigger just yet – until we saw Kathleen Light’s rave about these blushes in one of her videos. We generally always love blushes Kathleen recommends (i.e. Burt’s Bees and NARS Madly) so we knew there had to be good.

We were all set to purchase one to try out when a package from Buxom arrived at our door containing the full collection!! Buxom, if you’re reading this, THANK YOU! It was truly the best surprise and we immediately wanted to do a review (& swatches) on the blog so you guys can decide if these are worth picking up.BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes Review + Swatches | Twinspiration We got sent six shades…

Goa – berry

Dolly – mauve

Seychelles – bronze

Ibiza – pink

Mykonos – peach

Havana – rose

Each shade in the line screams “summer” – these even smell like coconuts! It’s a great idea for a blush line but I think the launch comes prematurely as we aren’t even in spring yet.

Out of all the summery hues, we were instantly drawn to Seychelles. It’s a more neutral, deeper, more luminous version of our previously mentioned holy-grail blush “Madly” by NARS. It is definitely our favorite out of the range. We generally aren’t into pink-toned blushes which most of these are but I have to say we’ve also been loving Dolly & Mykonos.

As you can tell in the swatches, they all have such a beautiful luminous finish that I don’t even think you need to wear highlighters with these. Even though they are luminous they leave more of a natural sheen on your skin and don’t contain large glitter particles in them – more of a soft, refined pearl. I absolutely love the finish and this is coming from someone who is partial to matte blushes.BUXOM Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blushes Review + Swatches | Twinspiration

The only downside to these, in my opinion, is the high level of pigment – read they go on very opaque. Being advertised as such a glowy, natural summer blush I expected these to be buildable and almost sheer, but that is not the case. I love sheer blushes because it’s so hard to go overboard. With these, I highly suggest applying with a fluffy brush and using less then you think you need. I always apply blush with my Smashbox buildable cheek blush which generally sheers out blush and I still have to go back in and blend, blend, blend with these to make sure they look diffused and natural. This isn’t a deal breaker but just be aware that these pack a punch!

Overall these are beautiful blushes and we can’t wait to wear them more as the weather warms up!
