If you’re into makeup chances are you’ve heard of Makeup Geek. Their single pan eyeshadows are only $6 and the quality is incredible. When we first started playing with makeup, Makeup Geek was some of the first eyeshadows we tried. Their range is quite impressive and we love the idea of picking and choosing which shadows you like to create a custom palette.
Our eyeshadow collection has grown so much that we’ve strayed from our singles shadows, but recently we reorganized and started using them more often. Carli and I decided to go through our collections and choose our favorite Makeup Geek shadows. We choose a nice mix of warm and neutral tones so all of them look great together or on their own! Honestly, when we saw these seven shadows side by side we realized we created our dream palette.
Grandstand
This shadow is part of their foiled collection so it’s straight up metallic. This is actually the very first single shadow we’ve ever purchased! It’s definitely a rose gold but it has taupe undertones which make it more of a true neutral. We love wearing this all over the lid or even just popped into the center of the lid for some dimension. With these foiled shadows, you definitely want to wet your brush with water or setting spray to make them stick to the lid.
Flame Thrower
This shade is the most dramatic of the bunch. It’s a true copper that really stands out on the eye! Again, this is a foiled shadow so you want to make sure to add some setting spray to your brush. I also find that glitter glue helps these foiled shadows to last longer! This shade looks amazing on the lid with a dark brown in the outer v!
Wild West
Wild West is one of our newest MUG shadows. It’s described as a rich rose brown which is spot on. Since it has the rose undertones it looks stunning paired with other warm shades like terracotta and copper. We love using this matte shade in the crease!
Sidekick
This matte cinnamon brown is so unique! We wanted to include a rich warm crease shade that could easily be warn on its own. We love popping this into the crease for an easy, beautiful eye look.
Cocoa Bear
Cocoa bear is definitely one of the Makeup Geek shades you always hear about, and for good reason. It’s a matte reddish brown that pairs well with neutral tones or warm tones. It’s actually very similar to Sidekick but a tad deeper.
Cherry Cola
We put off buying this shade for awhile because we didn’t think we’d wear it often but we were so wrong! As you can see it’s a dark brown with strong red undertones. We like to wear this shade in the outer corner and we find that it works well with brown shades and even purple eyeshadows! It’s definitely more versatile than you’d think!
Corrupt
It’s extremely hard to find a solid matte black eyeshadow. Most of them are patchy and don’t blend properly. Corrupt is the exact opposite. It’s a true deep black that’s so pigmented and blends out flawlessly.
So there it is! We’d love to hear which Makeup Geek shadows you can’t live without!
xx, Britta

10/18/2017 at 8:47 pmWe’re pretty pale as well! None of the mattes are TOO pigmented so they don’t go on duper dark!
